I'm only guessing about this, Curty Ray, but I suspect your decision to take a break has something to do with the lack of feedback and interaction with the site (apart from visitors grabbing the tunes of course!)
I understand completely where you're coming from and, frankly, I've been ranting about the rudeness and self-serving tendencies of most blog visitors for the last few months myself.
Myself, I'm going private and inviting only those who have chosen to show some respect and appreciation by leaving the occasional comment. I no longer care about the stats which are top-heavy with parasites!

I certainly hope you'll be back, even if posting infrequently, but I'd understand completely if you had to hang it up. It must take a tremendous amount of work to keep something like PPO going for as long as you have. I'm in the same place this morning (as I check in hoping to see one of your Secret Saturday posts), having gotten some news yesterday that's forcing me to finally make decisions that I've put off for a long time and that will probably affect nearly everything about my life--some parts possibly for the better, and some parts maybe for the worse. I sincerely hope everything's OK in your life. Please take care of yourself and, whatever you decide for the future of PPO, thanks for being here for so many great years.

Thanks and appreciation for keeping me abreast of what's new out there in the way of Power Pop. Haven't heard as much lately since you cut back - sorely miss the regular posts but it is very understandable. Life is busy and priorities need to be set. My wife thinks the only benefit in not hearing as much lately is we are saving a lot of money I used to spend on the music I was able to listen to from your posts and couldn't resist buying. Headed on a cruise to Alaska instead this year with the money saved. I'm selfish in nature I guess since I would like to have both. Hope life treats you well and you find joy and happiness in whatever you choose to do. You will be missed or you will be welcomed back with open arms. Take care my friend and thanks again for the music that brightens my days.

I've never posted before, and maybe I'm one of the reasons that you've decided to take a break - but understand that it's just my nature to want to read posts than share my opinions. I've thoroughly enjoyed PPO and will miss learning about all of the new and different music out there. I believe, as Brian Wilson has said, that "music is God's voice" and that we can use as much of that as we can get these days. I hope you find what you're looking for and return in fine spirits before too long. Thanks for all your efforts to this point and enjoy your break!

It's been obvious for a while now that something was up. No more recommendations of somehow overlooked gems; fewer & fewer Secret Sat.'s; the general demise of music blogs on account of the RIAA. What I'm saying is, I think we'd all understand if your heart & time are no longer in it. Please don't pull a vanishing act, give the people who have followed you a chance to properly say goodbye.
I too have been enjoying your blog immensely over the years, discovering so many great powerpop artists. Thank you for that! I hope that you do continue PPO, even if only sporadically, but as someone else said earlier, you must do what makes you happy.

If you do decide to call it a day then i completely understand, however dont think for one minute that you will not be missed, and also leave a gapeing hole is many peoples lives. Like so many others you have introduced me to so many new artists and albums, and for that I thank you. thanks for so many great posts over the years - so many bands I had never even heard of and a real labour of love. Really missing the 'secret saturdays' which were never predictable and often a musical highlight of my week.

No one has introduced me to soooo much great music as you have. While I've always been a follower of power pop the newer stuff would escape me if it wasn't for you. I'm hoping you will continue if only once a friggin month but if not I completely understand...Life happens
