Paul Steel - Moon Rock - 2007

2007 debut album from an amazing young multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter who simply has a keen penchant for writing the kind of song that really sticks in your mind. This album was recorded at home with Tony Hoffer (Beck, Kooks, Fratellis) in a DIY tradition of classic pop like that from Super Furry Animals or Elvis Costello. A limited pressing that he sold at his early gigs managed to get into the hands of several musical heavyweights and Steel earned plaudits from the likes of XTC's Andy Partridge, The High Llamas' Sean O'Hagan and Brian Wilson collaborator Van Dyke Parks.

A million thanks for this post.
I had heard about this record but did not expect it to be so good.

A fabulous album, Curty Ray. I heard approximately two songs from it before I said to myself "I have to buy that album!" – which I did less than five minutes later.
